Liaoning to bid for the 2024 National Winter Games

November 30: The Liaoning government has officially announced a decision to bid for the 2024 National Winter Games at a local news conference.

According to Song Kai, a senior official at the local sports governing body, Liaoning has made remarkable achievements in mass participation sports, competition sports and to the general sports industry. Currently, there are more than 2000 public sporting activities each year in Liaoning.

Focusing on the strategy of One Belt, Two Roads, Three Centers and Nine Districts, the local government is looking to establish Liaoning Industry Group by combining sports resources.

Song also remarked that their bidding for the 2024 Winter Games aims to promote the development of the winter sports industry in the provinces of northeastern China.

The local government also has plans to introduce a series of quality sporting events, engaging local residents to participate in fitness activities. According to their plan, Liaoning will organize at least 2000 above-County-level fitness activities as well as introduce annual national and international events.
