NIKE sign up Chinese top point guard Fang Shuo

By Nong Ruowen 08 Apr 2018

On April 6, NIKE announced that they had signed up another Chinese basketball player, Fang Shuo, as their brand ambassador. The 28-year-old point guard is another member of China’s National Men’s Basketball Team to act as a NIKE brand ambassador following deals with Yi Jianlian, Zhou Qi, Wang Zhelin, Ding Yanyuhang.

As NIKE unveiled in their press release, Fang has been involved in NIKE’s basketball campaign since high school time.

The Beijing-born basketball talent, representing Beijing No.22 High School, played in the China High School Basketball League (CHBL). The CHBL is organized by the Ministry of Education’s High School Students Sports Association and has been sponsored by NIKE since its first season in 2003.

It was due to his outstanding performances in the CHBL, that Fang graduated to the Youth Team of CBA outfit Beijing Ducks in 2006 and promoted to their first team in 2008.

This season, Fang has become one of the leading scorers for the Beijing Ducks and is regarded as one of the top Chinese point guards in China.

This previous connection between Fang and NIKE is widely seen as one of the reasons why NIKE wanted to announce this deal now as the finals of the 2018 CHBL’s Beijing Conference will tip off on April 8 where NIKE will unveil Fang at the Cadillac Arena court.
