Skechers sign up Chinese singer and actor Huang Zitao as ambassador

American sportswear brand Skechers has signed up popular Chinese singer and actor, Huang Zitao, as brand ambassador for the Asia and Pacific region. The brand will also launch a new line of shoes, D’Lites3, with Huang. 

Born in 1993, Huang first appeared as a member of the pop song group EXO in 2012. He then participated in many South Korean entertainment shows and shifted his focus back to China around 2015. He has studied Wushu since he was 5 years old and so he has appeared in action and sports related entertainment shows in addition to his music. 

Prior to the signing of Huang Zitao, Skechers have signed up a number of other Chinese entertainment stars as their brand ambassadors. Li Yifeng, another popular Chinese actor in recent years, was signed up in January, 2018. 

The second quarter financial report released by Skechers in July, showed that the brand had made a new second-quarter sales record this year of USD1.134bn. However, their profit had dropped by 23.9% to USD45.3m. 

According to online information, this is the tenth endorsement deal Huang has signed this year. Previous endorsement deals include partnerships with food, mobile phone, alcohol and other brands.
