Chinese eSports player Jian ‘Uzi’ Zihao appears in Nike campaign

By Andrea Huang 24 Oct 2018

Chinese eSports player Jian ‘Uzi’ Zihao has appeared in the Nike “Dribble &” campaign for the NBA star LeBron James.

He has been featured in a poster/photo wearing a black T-shirt that says “Dribble & Carry”. The Nike Basketball Weibo account posted a group of photos on October 17. The word “Carry” is used in the Chinese eSports world to denote a player who leads a team to victory through the player’s own ability and is commonly used to describe Jian ‘Uzi’ Zihao’s experience and successes in his eSports career. Uzi currently plays for the Chinese eSports club Royal Never Give Up, which is more often referred to as RNG.

Born in 1997, Uzi’s talent in eSports was spotted at the age of 15. At 16, he took part in the League of Legends representing RNG. However, because of issues with the business operations of RNG, he joined other eSports clubs but returned to play for them in  2016. He was also one of the six Chinese eSports players that won team gold representing China at the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games.

The other star featured in the campaign apart from LeBron James is the 1993-born Chinese actor Bai Jingting.
