It has been reported that the 2015 Snooker International Championship will be held in Daiqng, Heilongjiang in September marking the first time that a word-class snooker tournament is to be held in the Northeast China. The schedule has yet to be released, but by convention the top 128 players in the world will have to compete to qualify for the finals with the 64 qualifiers competing in Daqing. The tournament will last for 8 days and all the matches will be covered by CCTV 5.
The 2015 Snooker International Championship will be hosted jointly by CCTV, China’s Sports Administration and World Snooker in addition to co-organizers CCTV Sports & Entertainment Co., Ltd. and other companies.
The snooker International Championship was first played in China in 2012. With a total prize fund of £625,000, it is the leading snooker tournament in China with the same ranking points as the UK Championship, the second ranked tornament to the World Snooker Championship. The overall winner of the title will receive £125,000 and 8000 ranking points.
