Bundesliga giants FC Bayern Munich are reportedly set to open a subsidiary in Shanghai, China, according to their director of internationalization and strategy, JörgWacker.
This global expansion move would mark the opening of FC Bayern’s second overseas office after their first unveiling in New York City last April.
According to JörgWacker, the club took advantage of their China tour in July to decide which Chinese city, Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, to place the subsidiary.
"We sat down together as a board during the China tour in July, analyzed, and then decided: Bayern Munich goes to Shanghai".
In their efforts to expand in China, the current Bundesliga champions have struck a few partnerships within China in the past couple of months, including a Chinese website, a Tmall shop and a lucrative exhibition tour.
As noted by current FC Bayern’s CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, the club is about to speed up its operations in China’s market.
