SC Heerenveen is likely to become a second Dutch football club under the ownership of a Chinese company.

The Beijing Successful Investment Management company is reportedly considering making an offer of 35 million euro to buy the top division football club, a local newspaper Leeuwarder Courant revealed on Wednesday, October 7.

Once the acquisition deal is done successfully, this will be the second Dutch football club under Chinese ownership. The Hague football club ADO Den Haag is the first Eredivisie club that acquired by United Vansen, a sports development company based in Beijing. 

Meanwhile, the Chinese company also expressed its interest in becoming a main sponsor of the Frisian club, the paper says.

However, there are divergences inside the football club towards the Chinese approach. Jelko van der Wiel, current chairman of the club, isn’t a supporter of the Chinese involvement, which has brought the talks to no further step, the paper says.
