British authorities plans to set up an office to work on youth football training programs and other football exchanges between Wuhan, capital of central China’s Hubei Province, and its sister city Manchester, Britain, according to a report released by a Chinese news website China News.
The two cities have established close business ties since 1986. Earlier in March, British Consulate-General Wuhan was set up, making it the fourth British consulate general in China. The two sides signed a series of cooperation agreements, among which cooperation on sports areas, especially on football, has received wide attention.
According to the newspaper, an exhibition of football culture will be held in Wuhan next year and a possible Premier League match will be introduce to Wuhan in the future. With the launch of new campus football plan in Wuhan, professors from Manchester United and Manchester are expected to participate in it.
Sir Richard Charles Leese, the leader of Manchester City Council once said that he would actively promote football exchanges between Wuhan and two football giants (Manchester United and Manchester City) in Manchester.
