English Premier League clubs may send coaches to Shanghai to train young soccer players, claims The Paper, a local media outlet. As reported, many coaches from Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in working in China, which will earn them a considerable salary. Coaches from the three clubs appeared at a graduation ceremony held at Shanghai Jiao Tong University last Friday.
Shanghai has set up a new soccer league covering 280 teams from primary schools, secondary schools and local colleges. In addition to the organization of regular fixtures, the city will also hold summer games and international tournaments.
The league will launch four training camps in each district, for young players of different ages. Foreign staff will be hired by each camp and these will include a technical director, a chief coach, an assistant coach and a goalkeeping coach.
China has created a masterplan for youth soccer training. It is said that by 2017, some 20,000 schools will have new soccer pitches and training facilities, training 100,000 new players.
