HTC and Under Armour team up to make fitness device

By He Lanying 08 Dec 2015

The US-based sportswear company Under Armour and Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC are expanding their partnership to include a connected weight scale.

The connected scale is called the “UA Scale" and described as a "Bluetooth scale" for measuring "weight and body fat", according to the listing. It also uses Bluetooth 4.1, meaning the scale will likely be able to pair with smartphones in order to remotely produce your fitness results in real-time.

Roughly one year ago, Under Armour and Under HTC announced their partnership to develop products that integrate directly with Under Armour’s new fitness app, UA Record.

Now, according to some documents posted to Bluetooth.org, which oversees development of the Bluetooth standard, the companies appear to be making a connected scale.

However, the two companies haven’t yet confirmed the existence of the UA Scale. Together they were previously working on a fitness wearable known as the Grip, but that has been delayed until next year.
