Sina Sports and the Champion Foundation recently set up a joint occupational training camp in Beijing to help retired professional athletes deal with career transition.
Sina Sports has prepared 5 internships for 15 athletes who will get vocational training in sports commentating, news gathering, sports events operation, marketing and administration.
Sun Xiaofeng, general manager of the Champion Foundation, said “The Champion Foundation is dedicated to helping redevelop athletes’ occupational careers (after retirement) with services covering training and consultancy along with internships and employment opportunities.”
“We believe that athletes are not only masters in sport, but that they can also be exceptional people in society and at work if they transit and get support”, Sun added.
The Champion Foundation was established in 2011 by Yang Yang, the first Chinese Winter Olympic Games champion and an IOC member. As a public service organization, it has helped over 2,000 athletes across China with its wide ranging services.
