China’s Quanjian Group has had to terminate its sponsorship deal with Jiangsu Yancheng Dingli FC, a China League Two club, due to a breach of the Chinese Football Association(CFA) rules, according to an official report posted yesterday.
As reported earlier, the Tianjin-based company officially took full control of the China League One side Tianjin Songjiang FC last December and changed its name to Tianjin Quanjian FC.
On 22nd January, the Quanjian Group announced that it had reached a partnership deal with Jiangsu Yancheng FC. In addition, its Jiangsu-based subsidiary was to invest RMB 5 million to promote Yancheng’s youth training programme.
However, under CFA rules, if a China League Two club becomes associated with a professional football club, the former will be disqualified from its league. On 26th January, the CFA urged the two clubs to give a written explanation and to terminate the related partnership.
