Shanghai-based Sports Entertainment Content Activation (SECA; Chinese: 盛力世家) announced yesterday that it has agreed a partnership with the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF). The deal sees SECA acquire all internet and mobile rights from the ITTF within mainland China.
The exclusive deal, which will run between 2017 and 2020, was brokered by TMS International, an agent responsible for all of the ITTF’s commercial rights.
According to Daniel Etchells’ report posted on insidethegames.biz, both the ITTF and SECA have agreed to explore further opportunities in overall brand marketing, local activation and new initiatives for the sport.
"This deal with SECA is the first step of a greater partnership to grow the table tennis brand," said ITTF President Thomas Weikert. "We are excited to be working with a new, motivated partner and we have seen some great work that SECA has been doing in several other sporting properties.”
As stated in the report, SECA will obtain the internet and mobile rights within China for the World Championships, the men's, women’s and team World Cups, the World Junior Championships plus the World Tour and World Tour Grand Finals.
