Sina Sports, the leading Chinese sports portal, has announced that it has signed a partnership deal with Michael Phelps to become the “Official Digital Media Partner of Michael Phelps in China.”
With the announcement, Sina Sports unveiled the “Official Michael Phelps Channel” on its digital sports media platform.
On this dedicated section, Phelps will provide exclusive interviews and swimming content, interacting directly through the Sina Sports platform with Chinese fans as he prepares for his fifth and final Olympics in Rio.
“I am excited to partner with Sina Sports as it brings me closer to fans throughout China, which is an important connection for me,” said Phelps. “I have enjoyed my visits to China over the years, from World Championships and the Olympics to my work with Special Olympics China through my foundation, and am honored to have this unique opportunity to remain connected with Chinese fans through Sina Sports.”
Michael Phelps is the latest in a strong lineup of sports stars that Sina Sports has partnered with to provide exclusive commentary and new original programming to its fans. Last September, Sina Sports launched “Protalk China,” a web series featuring European football stars Eden Hazard, Carlo Ancelotti, Michael Owen, Gary Neville, and Peter Schmeichel.
