Yesterday (17th April) Guangzhou Sport University established a Football Academy, the first football academy to be set up in China.
This is the first football academy established since the General Office of the State Council of the People's Republic of China issued "The Overall Reform and Development Plan of Chinese Football" on 16th March 2015.
100-150 students will be admitted to the academy this September.
A large part of these students will be trained to be campus football coaches.
As Guangdong Province, which is home to Guangzhou Evergrande FC, steps up the promotion of campus football, campus football coaches are in large demand.
The academy will bring in international talents who are concerned about the future educational reform of Chinese football.
“Given the academy is the first of its kind, the specific talent training plan still needs further improvement” said Yi Zhou, Executive Dean of the Football Academy .
