By Chen Yaping 04 May 2016

According to a Chinadaily report, former NBA player Jason Richardson is visiting China and will be here from May 1-4. The aim of the visit is to celebrate the NBA Playoffs with Chinese fans and to promote the development of basketball in China.

Richardson paid a visit to the LeSports Center on May 2nd. He engaged with players participating in the finals of the first Jr. NBA Basketball League, a league for high school students aged 16-18. On the same day, he worked as a coach at the NBA Yao Basketball Club.

On May 3, he visited one of the Jr.NBA schools in Beijing to exchange ideas with students. He will also make an appearance today on the CCTV 5 programme NBA Primetime.

"I know how much fans love the game of basketball in China and I look forward to meeting and connecting with them," said Richardson. "This is also a great opportunity to share my knowledge and passion for the game with Chinese fans during the exciting NBA Playoffs."

The Jr. NBA is a global youth basketball project for the league. During the 2015-16 season, the enrolment of the project is expected to reach more than 6.5 million in 33 countries. The first Jr. NBA Basketball League in Beijing was launched in November 2015, as part of the existing partnership between NBA China and the Ministry of Education.
