Singaporean companies acquire CSL broadcast rights

By Chen Yaping 11 May 2016

According to a Sportspro report, two Singapore-based media companies MyChinaChannel and Orientivity have acquired the broadcasting rights for the Chinese Super League (CSL) soccer competition. The financial terms have not been disclosed as of now.

The deal runs for the remainder of the current CSL season and through the 2016/17 edition. From May 14th, CSL games will be broadcast on StarHub's pay-TV SuperSports channel, as part of their partnership with the two media companies.

Football fans in Singapore will also be able to catch the games via the companies' respective online portals. According to several sources, two CSL matches per week will be shown in Singapore by MyChinaChannel and Orientivity.

The CSL has been attracting international attention over the past few months. According to industry website Transfermarkt, Chinese clubs have spent around €337 million (S$516.4 million) on foreign players in the January-February window, which outstripped the English Premier League’s €253 million outlay.
