Chinese telecom powerhouse Huawei has reportedly decided not to renew their deal with Premier League giants Arsenal FC, according to Michael Garwood of Mobile News.

As Garwood wrote, the partnership between Huawei and Arsenal, which was signed in 2014, has come to an end after the 2015/2016 season. He went on to say the smartphone manufacturer chose not to renew the contract due to a shift in their branding strategy in the UK market. However, Huawei’s deals with other European football clubs including “Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid are understood to remain in place”, he continued.

So far neither Huawei nor Arsenal has made an official announcement regarding the deal.

The Chinese smartphone brand teamed up with Arsenal in January 2014 to become the club’s official smartphone partner and the inaugural deal expired in May 2016.  However, Huawei still has a contract with Arsenal striker Alexis Sanchez.
