The 2016 Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) 250 Kuala Lumpur tournament has been relocated to China’s Chengdu from 26th September to 2nd October.
It marks Chengdu as the fourth Chinese city to host an ATP 250 event this year along with Shenzhen, Beijing and Shanghai. The southwestern Chinese city has just seen the conclusion of Chengdu’s division of the 2016 Wuhan Open City Tennis Tour last week.
Zhu Jianbin, the President of the Wuhan Open’s supportive organization Wuhan Sports Development and Investment said, “The relocation of an ATP 250 event to Chengdu deserves our congratulations. It is a great gift that the city brings to the people.”
“Wuhan and Chengdu are both strategic cities in China in terms of the sport of tennis with a solid fan base and established players. With the ATP 250 Chengdu and the Wuhan Open City Tennis Tour, (we) hope Chengdu and Wuhan to have more exchanges in event development and popularization of the sport,” Zhu continued.
The 2016 ATP 250 Chengdu will start simultaneously with the ATP tournament in Shenzhen.
