Jets plan 3-game China tour

By Chen Yaping 24 Aug 2016

Australian professional soccer club Newcastle Jets are set to start a 12-day tour to China, as a part of the club’s Hyundai A-League 2016/17 pre-season preparations.

The club will first reach Huludao in Liaoning Province to face Liaoning Whowin FC on the evening of Saturday 27 August. Then the team will travel south to Shenzhen in Guangdong Province, where they are going to play friendlies with Eastern Sports Club and Kitchee Sports Club of the Hong Kong Premier League (HKPL).

The Jets tour also includes a visit to the Ledman Group facilities in Huizhou City. Jets players will be able to learn more about Ledman Group’s operations, meet company staff, and show their appreciation to the club’s Chinese owner Martin Lee and his Ledman Group.

“To have the opportunity to go and play three games in China is fantastic for the Club,” Jets Chief Executive Officer Lawrie McKinna said, “This will be a great opportunity for Newcastle Jets to show the local football public and business community that the Jets can fly the flag for the Hunter Valley and Northern New South Wales in Asia.”
