Los Angeles Lakers have announced their list of 15 players for the new season but Chinese basketballer Yi jianlian didn’t make the list.
Mitch Kupchak, the General Manager of Los Angeles Lakers, said that Yi jianlian believed his playing time and opportunities didn’t live up to his expectations. Therefore, he and his agent wished to terminate the contract. In 2007, Yi jianlian was selected by Milwaukee Bucks and later played for New Jersey Nets, Washington Wizards and Dallas Mavericks. In 2012 he lined out with the Guangdong team in China.
On 22th August 2016, the Lakers announced that Yi jianlian had signed an agreement to return to NBA as a center with roughly 8 million dollars of salary and bonus per year. In the following preseason games, he played 6 games for the Lakers, averaging 10.7 minutes per game and getting 3 points and 2.5 rebounds. Now, Yi jianlian has re-signed with Guangdong Hongyuan.
