Two Chinese cities bid to host BWF top events

Recently, the Chinese Badminton Association released an announcement about public submissions for 2018-2019 badminton international tournaments bidding cities on its official website. 

According to relevant regulations, the Chinese Badminton Association has audited and evaluated the material submitted by the biding cities, all of which had made bidding presentations in Beijing on Dec 8th. 

After comprehensive evaluation, Nanjing has been approved to bid for the hosting of the 2018 BWF(Badminton World Federation) World Championships, and Nanning has been approved to bid for the hosting of the 2019 Sudirman Cup Mixed Team Badminton Championships. Presentations from both cities have been submitted to the General Administration of Sport, and will be submitted to the BWF if approved. 

The BWF World Championships, is a top level world badminton event. It started in 1977 and was originally held every three years. Then from 1985-2005 it was held every two years. Since 2006, it has become an annual tournament, except for Olympic years. To date there have been 21 editions.

The Sudirman Cup, has been hosted every two years since 1989. It takes place in odd-numbered years, and has been held 14 times.
