Alisports to partner International Ski Federation

By Nong Ruowen 15 Jun 2017

The International Ski Federation (FIS) and Alisports announced a new cooperation agreement on June 14 at the Multifunction Studio of the Alibaba Sports Group company in Shanghai, China. This agreement will see an initial push to activate 30 million Chinese people to participate in snow sports.

China has set an ambitious target to raise the number of winter sport participants  across China from the current 15 million to 300 million by the start of the Beijing 2022 Winter Games, thereby offering a lot of opportunities for winter sports’ promotion and its stakeholders. The FIS has looked to foster positive local partnerships, most notably with the Beijing Sports University alongside its current partnership with the Chinese Ski Association.

The agreement between Alisports and FIS will see a number of partners collaborating to set up a development programme and campaign for grassroots winter sports called  ‘Get into Snow Sports - China’. The FIS, as the world governing body will provide the expertise, with the FIS Academy and World Academy of Sport delivering capability, scalable capacity and certification systems for the programme, working alongside Beijing Sport University.

Alisports will take charge of marketing, promotion, selling and organisation of the “Get into Snow Sports” courses through it’s proven channels to lead the drive towards activating 300 million new winter snow sport participants.
