By Wei Ruili 05 Jul 2017

Princess Anne arrived in China this week and will be visiting Beijing, Wuhan and Changsha. The purpose of this visit is to highlight the UK’s strength in sports, education and research, and to enhance its cooperation with China.

Princess Anne is a member of the International Olympic Committee. She has also represented Britain when she participated in the Olympic Games. On July 4, she met the representatives of the Chinese Olympic Committee, and talked about the cooperation for the upcoming events including the 2022 Winter Olympic Games. She also met China’s top figure skaters, as well as other athletes participating in the IAAF Athletic World Championships to be held in London next August.

In the evening of July 4, Princess Anne attended the Queen’s birthday party events, and launched the UK’s “Spirit of Youth” campaign. The campaign focuses on presenting British achievements in sports, education, tourism, etc. It aims at encouraging cooperation and communication between the UK and China for the next generation, while showing a modern and energetic Britain. The campaign will last until the end of December.
