Ronaldo, Kyrie Irving and LeBron James head to China

By Chen Yaping 17 Jul 2017

On July 16 Nike unveiled an amusing advert to promote Cristiano Ronaldo's upcoming visit to China. According to several news outlets, the current Ballon d‘Or winner will take part in a Chinese tour taking in Shanghai on July 22, before visiting Beijing the following day.

“I’m flying to watch the best of Chinese football,” the striker wrote on Twitter, “Heard that football is booming there. Can’t wait to see the brilliance.”

Another Nike ambassador Kyrie Irving is reportedly set to visit Taipei and Beijing at the end of July. The Cavaliers All-Star point guard will take part in commercial activities as well as lead a special coaching session with Team China Youth Basketball Team.

Media reports also said that following Irving’s visit, the brand’s top star LeBron James will start his China Tour by  paying a visit to Shanghai.

Nike, whose main focus is on serving a growing base of consumers through each specific sport, sees China’s sports market as having huge potential. The sportswear brand is using the China Tour as an opportunity to reach more Chinese customers.
