Huawei signs a sponsorship deal with Norwegian Vålerenga

By Michael Long 05 Feb 2015

Chinese smartphone brand Huawei has further bolstered its presence in European soccer by signing a new sponsorship deal with Norwegian side Vålerenga Fotball AS.

As part of the two-year deal the company becomes the main sponsor and official smartphone partner of the Oslo-based Tippeligaen club.

The contract includes, among other things, on-kit branding, exposure at Vålerenga matches and promotion across the club’s digital and social platforms.

Huawei will also take an active role in the club's community programmes including co-organising a children's football tournament.

"Huawei is delighted to partner with Vålerenga Fotball,” said Eric Zhang, the chief executive of Huawei Technologies Norway AS.

“As one of the leading football clubs in Scandinavia, known for its strong position both on and off the pitch, Huawei identified Vålerenga as the perfect match to our brand.”

Huawei has been making steady inroads into the European soccer sponsorship market in recent months, entering into partnerships with a host of leading clubs such as AC Milan, Ajax, Arsenal, Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Paris-Saint Germain.
