October 16: Organizers of the 2017 Changsha International Marathon have selected a local financial institute, Huarong Xiangjiang Bank, to become their title sponsor.
Headquartered in Changsha, Hunan Province, the bank has plans to work with Hunan Communications Radio to set up a special running team to join the race, which aims to donate running shoes to children living in remote mountainous areas in the province.
Starting from October 16th, running enthusiasts will be able to register for membership of the running team. They can choose from different races including a marathon (42.195km), a half-marathon (21.0975km) and a mini-marathon (about 5km).
In addition to this, the team will participate in a 2km “Happy Running Race” on November 18, in which runners will complete the charity plan by running barefoot.
The race starts from and will end at Helong Stadium, passing by Changsha’s landmark spots such as Xiangjiang Scenic Belt, Orange Isle (Juzizhou), Yuelu Mountain and Yanghu Wetland Park.
The Changsha Marathon 2017, hosted by the Chinese Athletic Association, Hunan Sports Bureau, and Changsha Municipal People’s Government, will be held on November 18. It has been listed as one of the IAAF Silver Label Road Races for this year.
