November 24: With the goal of developing China as a sports tourism destination, a sports recreational town will be constructed in Jimo District, Qingdao, Shandong Province. Reportedly, the project will be led by a group consisting of staff members from organizations such as China International Camping Congress (CICC), Beijing Camping Club and the local government in Jimo.
The CICC’s Executive President Li Shouwen suggested that sports industrial parks, theme parks and camping fields should be introduced into this new sports recreational town, as well as the hosting of sports and tourism-themed exhibitions. Li stated that these exhibitions will play an important role in attracting more projects and investment to Jimo, which will help further develop the district.
Currently, the groups are focusing on preparations for the 2018 Qingdao International RV (Auto) Camping Tourism Equipment Expo, which will be hosted in Jimo.
Jimo is a coastal district of Qingdao with rich resources in the maritime industry, education, technology and hot springs. The district is equipped with infrastructure and sports facilities which makes the district capable of creating it as a destination for sports and tourism.
