November 28: A philanthropic campaign was carried out at Beijing University People’s Hospital at Qinghe for children with leukemia, attended by 2 CBA players from the Beijing Ducks, Zhai Xiaochuan and Zhang Songtao and representatives from the Chinese Red Cross Foundation (CRCF).
To launch the campaign, Zhai and Zhang put on a freestyle basketball demo, chatted with the children, parents and staff, signed autographs and posed for photos. The players also handed out “Beijing Ducks-Themed Hero’s Vital Package” goodie bags to the kids containing stationery, a cap, gloves, educational toys and a Beijing Ducks’ mascot, as well as a guide book for leukemia rehabilitation.
The campaign for children with leukemia was jointly launched by the Beijing Ducks and CRCF with the Beijing Ducks-themed goodie bags coming from a crowdfunding project initiated by the two parties on two philanthropic platforms belonging to Sina and Tencent.
Launched in 2016, the “Hero’s Vital Package” is a philanthropic project founded by the CRCF aimed at encouraging sick children to fight the disease and alleviating pressure from their parents.
