The “Silk Road Cup” China-ASEAN Table Tennis begins in Guangxi

The 2017 “Silk Road Cup” China-ASEAN Table Tennis tournament officially began December 11 in Jingxi City of Guangxi.

Co-hosted by the Chinese Table Tennis Association, the Guangxi sports governing body and Baise municipal government, the tournament aims to create a cultural exchange platform for China and ASEAN countries.

According to a news report, athletes from ten ASEAN countries, both the Chinese national team and Guangxi team participated in this event. The opening ceremony was attended by Chinese top players including Huang Biao, Zhang Jike, Liu Shiwen, Feng Yalan, Chen Ke, Qian Tianyi and Xu Haidong. 

The Chinese national team also donated sports equipment to 50 schools in Baise for the development of local sports.

The 3-day event will be very significant for introducing the One Belt, One Road Initiative in Baise and carrying out Guangxi’s Three Positions development strategy.
