Alisports, the sports arm of Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba, has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Xuzhou government of Jiangsu Province.
Under the agreement, the two sides will focus on the operation of the Xuzhou Olympic Sports Center, along with Xuzhou City-centered regionalized sports services facing the Huaihai Economic Zone.
The 240,000-square-meter Xuzhou Olympic Sports Center, built in 2014 for holding Jiangsu Provincial Games, includes a 35,000-seat sports stadium, a 2,500-seat swimming and diving hall, a ball games hall, a multi-functional training gym and a sports school. In the past 3 years, the venue has received 4 million visitors and held 297 events.
Alisports has now reached partnerships with local governments including Hainan Province, Zhejiang Province, Suzhou City, Jiaxing City, Quzhou City, Tongling City, Jiaozhou District of Qingdao City and Yangpu District of Shanghai City.
The new deal will see the sports company provide a smart stadium management platform for the Xuzhou Olympic Sports Center by using Alibaba’s strength in big data and technology.
