After announcing his retirement in 2008, Zhang set up Xiaoping Sports to promote boxing and sports charity causes in China.

Also as a Qiqiaoland partner, Zhang announced the launch of the Happy Boxing program, with the goal of growing youth sports in the country, enhancing public awareness of national fitness and improving sports facilities in Shenzhen City of Guangdong Province.

Zhang Xiaoping, born in Xilinhot, Inner Mongolia, in 1982, is a Chinese amateur boxer who won the gold medal at the 2008 Olympics in his native country as a Light heavyweight. Zhang became the first Olympic boxing gold medalist for China, along with Zou Shiming.
