The CTBC Bank from Taiwan announced recently its decision to sponsor Chinese professional golf player Jenny Shanshan Feng in order to boost participation in golf in the Greater China region.

Hoping to promote golfing standards and improve skills in Greater China,the CTBC Bank will be sponsoring Feng to encourage more golf-loving youths to follow in Feng's path.

The sponsorship also shows that CTBC is encouraging newcomers to participate in golf in Taiwan, China and nearby regions, and hopes to support players who show talent and skill to hold their own in the world rankings, like Feng currently does.

At 25 years old, Feng is a golfer playing in the LPGA Tour, having made her debut performance in the tour in 2008.

Feng is the first golfer from China to become a member of the tour, and has three victories under her belt, including the 2012 LPGA Championship, the Reignwood LPGA Classic in October 2013, and the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia in October 2014.

Feng is also the first player from China to win a major championship (2012).

Having held its first “CTBC Ladies Open” in 2014, the bank states that the games are among the first golfing collaborations it is planning with China.

Starting this year, CTBC-sponsored golfers are no longer limited to Taiwanese nationals; all Chinese golfers who show talent may be invited to play in the CTBC Ladies Open.

Feng is currently preparing for the Olympic Games in 2016, and is seen by many in her field to be the most likely golfer to snatch a gold medal in the games.
