The retired professional basketball player, Stephon Marbury, has been named chair of a sports blockchain company under the Sun Seven Stars Investment Group, which is headed by Bruno Wu and Chinese TV hostess Yang Lan.
According to a Xinhua report, Marbury will be responsible for directing athletic products, content and branding blockchain services at his new position.
As the 41-year-old said, the honor is his to join Sun Seven Stars Investment Group founded by Bruno Wu and Yang Lan. He believes that he is embracing a great and creative cause, which will reconstruct the landscape of the sports ecosystem throughout the world.
The sports blockchain group focuses on digital business services, which includes “production and distribution of digital assets such as sports indices and futures based on big data; the design and operation of B2B digital asset trading platforms for sports content, equipment, and authorized products; decentralized, biometric digital wallet management; and supply chain services for developing digital logistics and settlement with leading enterprises in the sports industry.”
The group has recently ironed out its first deal with Fighting Spirit, a fighting event media rights agency and distribution company, aiming to set up the world’s first-ever blockchain-based digital platform for fighting and sports properties.
