Hunan TV, a most-watched provincial channel in China, announced today to have signed a shirt sponsorship deal with the La Liga side Espanyol. In the match yesterday, where Real Madrid beat Espanyol by a scoreline of 6-0, spectators were surprised to see the logo of “Super Girl “, a popular singing show on Hunan TV, on the front of Espanyol’s jerseys.
As stated in media reports, it’s a part of the business plan for China's Rastar Group, who officially acquired a 54% stake in Espanyol last month.
No financial terms have been released, but rumours said that the deal is likely to be worth €500,000 each match.
As Huang Wensheng, Rastar’s representative of securities affairs, said, they have a marketing team that focuses on the business development for Espanyol. He believed that the Chinese company would help the Spanish club introduce more businesses in terms of commercial sponsorship, sports tourism and player interaction.
