Chinese telecommunications company ZTE on Sunday announced it has signed a sponsorship deal with top Spanish football team, Sevilla Football Club to serve as the club's Official Technological Partner and smartphone provider.

The announcement of the agreement with the reigning Europe League champions and finalist of this season's King's Cup, was made in Barcelona on the eve of the Mobile World Congress, which opens on Monday.

“ZTE is proud to be the Official Technology Partner of Sevilla Football Club, one of the greatest football teams known around the world,” commented Jacky Zhang, CEO of ZTE EMEA and APAC. “Sevilla FC and ZTE share the same vision and beliefs that brought us to where we are today: passion, creativity, dedication, talent, as well as imagination and beyond. We look forward to having even more sports fans become ZTE fans, to forge new legends for the mobile century.”

With this agreement, both ZTE and Sevilla FC will carry out several events throughout the season to engage with fans. Apart from advertising space in the stadium, Sevilla FC fans will also receive the latest information about ZTE products and participate in exclusive sweepstakes to win smartphones, tickets or merchandising from the team.

“On behalf of Sevilla FC, I am very pleased and honoured to cooperate with one of the leading technology companies in the world,” said Jose Castro Carmona, Chairman of Sevilla FC, "I am convinced that this partnership will be tremendously beneficial for both parties, for our fans and the consumers all over the world.”

This agreement follows a strategy which has brought ZTE success in the USA, where it is the technological partner of basketball teams such as the Golden State Warriors, the New York Knicks, the Houston Rockets and the Chicago Bulls.

Meanwhile the company will bring a roadshow to Europe in the coming months with the "Experience Bus" which will visit 5 countries and 15 cities in two months, offering the public the chance to try some of ZTE's most up to date hardware.
