Port Adelaide FC, an Australian Football League (AFL) club, has signed a unique three-year partnership with Chinese property developer Shanghai CRED (Chinese: 上海中房置业). The official announcement was just launched this morning (April 14th).
Under this multi-million dollar deal, Port Adelaide will take primary responsbility for developing Australian Football in China. This partnership will see the club:
1. Hold annual training camps in Shanghai.
2. Continue to sponsor the South China AFL, Guandong AFL, Team China and Auskick programs as part of the arrangement.
3. Produce AFL programs and broadcast games into China via China Central Television (CCTV) and other networks.
4. Conduct business events in Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong.
“The most pleasing element of this partnership is that it goes well beyond the football field,” Port Adelaide chief executive Keith Thomas said, ”This partnership significantly strengthens Port Adelaide providing us with the confidence and ability to continue to grow our football club. ”
“This partnership will promote and share the beauty of AFL in China and will enlighten and enrich our sporting culture.” said Shanghai CRED’s founder Gui Guojie.
