Chinese sportswear manufacturer Xtep has hired retired soccer star Andriy Shevchenko as their brand ambassador, as part of the brand’s newly launched soccer strategy.
Under the agreement, Shevechenko will attend promotional campaigns for Xtep Blade 1, Xtep’s first high-end soccer boot edition. In addition, he will also appear in China’s campus soccer leagues, which are sponsored by Xtep, and play a part in Chinese youth soccer every year during the contract period.
The former AC Milan and Chelsea striker said he hopes that the partnership could drive greater participation in soccer among Chinese youngsters.
Besides Shevechenko’s efforts, Xtep will also support Chinese youth soccer through events, trainings and products. More specifically, Xtep will continue to sponsor the China University Football League (CUFL) and China College Futsal League (CCFL). In addition, the company will work together with Sport8 to promote soccer classes and training camps both online and offline.
