Nashville-based Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) is expanding into China via an Internet TV deal with YouKu.
According to TNA president Dixie Carter, TNA’s Impact Wrestling, a professional wrestling television program, will air at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesdays on YouKu. As Carter revealed on Twitter on July 14, “TNA will be broadcasting new episodes of IMPACT every Wednesday at 8 PM on China's Youku platform.”
TNA Wrestling is a privately owned American professional wrestling promotion based in Nashville, Tennessee. Founded in 2002 as J Sports & Entertainment, it is the second-largest professional wrestling promotion in the United States, after WWE.
Youku, a video subsidiary of Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba, is one of China's top online video and streaming service platforms. It has more than 500 million active monthly users, with 800 million daily video views.
Commentator Josh Mathews added in a video announcement that TNA will be partnering with “Fit Time” out of Beijing.
