By Chen Yaping 25 Jul 2016

The Chinese Super League (CSL), now valued at £277 million, has achieved the biggest growth among all national championships around the world, according to Goal.com, a world-leading soccer portal owned by Perform Group.

The CSL’s total value has seen an approximately 81% year-on-year growth during the 2015-2016 season, which is mostly due to the arrival of international players. In this respect, it is followed by Brasileirão (45.73%) and La Liga (10.11%).

Over the past year, China has made heavy investments to attract high-profile players from around the world. Subsequently, there has been an influx of footballers who are pleased to leave leading footballing nations such as France, England and Italy to venture into China.

“After spending mind boggling sums including an outlay of €331 million on transfer fees, the CSL has smashed through the footballing elite to now become an abode for several well-known players.” stated Vir Chiniwala in a recent report.
