On January 5th 2017, the name Football Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China was officially removed from the system, demonstrating that the Chinese Football Association is now completely separate from the General Administration of Sport of China and becomes an independent legal body.
As an affiliated institution of the General Administration of Sport of China, the Chinese Football Management Center was founded on January 3rd 1995 and worked in parallel with the Chinese Football Association for many years. The signboard of the Football Management Center hung outside the office of the Chinese Football Association.
In March 2015, an overall reform plan to boost the development of soccer in China was issued , in which it was directly stressed that the Chinese Football Association should separate from the General Administration of Sport of China and would no longer play any role in its administration.
At the end of February 2016, the Xinhua News Agency reported that the Football Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China had been terminated and the Chinese Football Association had almost completed its separation from the General Administration of Sport. The removal of the name Football Management Center now shows things have come to a conclusion.
