Former Premier League club Aston Villa confirmed on Thursday that Hisense UK, the Leeds-based subsidiary of the Chinese electronics supplier, has become the new official technology partner.
This deal will include “fan engagement, sponsorship maximisation and brand presence at home games over the course of the 2017/18 season,” according to a club statement. No financial terms have been disclosed as of now.
The Championship club was sold to China’s Recon Group in May 2016 and has been battling to return to the Premier League under the guidance of its Chinese owner.
“We are proud to have partnered with such a strong consumer brand who share a mutual love for football.” said Luke Organ, the club’s Chief Commercial Officer, “We look forward to a long and successful partnership.”
Hisense is also an official sponsor of FIFA’s 2017 Confederations Cup and 2018 World Cup. It was also a official sponsor at Euro 2016 in a deal that will see it sponsor UEFA national team competitions until the end of 2017.
