Chinese smartphone manufacturer ZTE has announced the extension of its sponsorship deal with the RBC Canadian Open Golf Tournament for the next 3 years. This renewal will see ZTE remain as the official smartphone sponsor of the Canadian Open, but the value of this sponsorship was not disclosed.
The sponsorship will allow ZTE to engage more with users in North America and in other places around the world, according to Cheng Lixin, Chief Executive of ZTE's mobile devices business unit. Golf Canada’s CEO Laurence Applebaum expressed that the Canadian Open is opened to partnering with companies willing to engage in supporting the sport. He is also looking forward to more partnership formed between the Canadian Open and Chinese companies.
With its North American headquarters based in Dallas, ZTE entered the Canadian market in 2005 and set up an R&D center in Ottawa. Up to now, ZTE has reportedly emerged as the #4 ranked smartphone manufacturer in the North American market and #5 in the Canadian market.
