By Nong Ruowen 17 Aug 2017

August 16: NBA China have announced that NBA Champion and two-time NBA All-Star Kawhi Leonard of the San Antonio Spurs will make his first-ever visit to China from August 18 – 24 to support the growth of basketball in the country and coach top young talent from the region at The NBA Academy Zhejiang. Leonard will wrap up his trip by making a special appearance at the NBA Playzone in Shanghai, an NBA-themed family entertainment destination for kids and their families.

Prior to this program, another NBA star showed up in Hangzhou, China. Houston  Rocket's star James Harden paired up with Adidas to deliver a junior training program. The initiative saw the basketball sensation join Adidas' Special Youth Coaching Program to show how the game plays a meaningful role in young people's lives. This was the second time Harden had joined an Adidas philanthropy campaign.

In July, two-time NBA Champion Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors, his brother Seth Curry of the Dallas Mavericks and Jeremy Lin of the Brooklyn Nets travelled to China to host the Jr. NBA basketball clinics for students in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen, which was part of the NBA's continued commitment to encouraging basketball participation among Chinese youth.
