October 12: The Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) announced on Thursday that they have opened their first official social media accounts on Sina Weibo and Tencent WeChat.
The China’s top professional basketball league is expected to release official news, club updates and latest match facts and figures on these two most popular Chinese social media platforms.
Within several hours, the CBA had already generated more than 10,000 followers on Sina Weibo.
This will help the league engage more directly with fans and make information about the league more accessible.
The league has named Kingworld (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd as its technology supporter and service provider for the accounts.
The CBA, which began competing in the 1995/96 season, is the only first-tier professional men’s basketball league in China. Yao Ming, the former NBA star, was appointed chairman of the CBA in February and has placed management reform at the top of his agenda.
