PGA Tour China to resume in 2018

By Chen Yaping 26 Oct 2017

The PGA Tour China Series is expected to resume in 2018 after a one-year hiatus, according to a joint announcement from the PGA Tour and the China Golf Association (CGA).

The tournaments in 2018 will have prize money reaching 1.5 million yuan (about US$225,000), an increase from 1.2 million yuan prize in the year 2016.

The PGA Tour China Series, a men's professional golf tour and part of the PGA Tour's global expansion, was first launched at the HSBC Champions four years ago, but the 2017 season was delayed and eventually cancelled.

“These will be brand new tournaments, providing players with more opportunities to participate, as well as to establish a route for China’s golfers to get through and onto the world stage of golf,” said Zhang Xiaoning, president of the CGA.

Shankai Sports and i3SPORTS have replaced China Olympic Sports Industry Co., Ltd to become the partners of the PGA in China under a four-year agreement.
