Changan Ford has been named as the title sponsor and official vehicle provider of Saturday’s Chinese Football Association (CFA) Super Cup.
The Super Cup is played annually between the winner of the CFA Cup and the winner of the Chinese Super League and this year’s edition, between Shangdong Luneng and Guangzhou Evergrande, was due to be held at the Huanglong Sports Stadium in Hangzhou.
Changan Ford has been heavily involved in Chinese soccer in the past, supporting initiatives and events such as charity soccer, the ‘caravan football’ fan interaction hub, and the corporate soccer league. It is a joint venture of Chinese state-owned Chang’an and American company Ford.
“The aspirations for greatness in football is deep in the hearts of the Chinese people and we at Changan Ford promise to do everything we can to support Chinese football both in professional play and in the development of young talent,” said the company’s president and chief executive Marin Burela.
CFA vice president Yu Hongchen said: “I believe that Changan Ford will continue to carry the concept to support the development of Chinese football and help the realization of Chinese football dream.”
In the mean while, Chinese telecommunication company Huawei signed a new sponsorship deal with Mexican football team Club America.
