Renmin Sports, a sports media branch of People.cn, has become the “New Media Partner” of the 2017/2018 China Volleyball League (CVL).
According to the press release by the CVL’s operators, Volleyball World, Renmin Sports has captured the rights to broadcast the remaining events of the 2017/2018 CVL, including the Men’s League, Women’s League and the All-Star event.
These events will be live streamed on Renmin Sports’ Internet-based platforms, including the sports channel of People.cn, Renmin Sports App and the official Weibo account of Renmin Sports.
Meanwhile, Renmin Sports will also work together with Volleyball World to produce some original CVL content and programs.
Currently, the CVL has embraced 8 domestic Chinese sports digital media platforms as its broadcasters, including Sina Sports, the Suning-owned PPTV Sports, Toutiao, the Tencent-owned live.qq.com, Alibaba’s Alisports, Baofeng Sports, NetEase Sports and newcomers, Renmin Sports.
The CVL, founded in 1996, is the general name of the top men and women’s volleyball leagues in China. With the 2017/2018 CVL recently finishing its first phase on December 26, 2017, the new edition of the league has made some ground-breaking achievements.
iRena, the CVL’s official commercial partner iRena disclosed that the CVL drew in a viewership of over 256 million up to December 21, with 37 million users watching the games videos online. The opening game of the women’s league attracted a record-breaking 6m users.
