By Nong Ruowen 10 Apr 2018

The Municipal Government of Beijing have announced on their official website, the launch of the tender process for the 2022 Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games’ construction project in Yanqing district, one of three host areas for Beijing 2022.

The construction of Yanqing’s Winter Olympic stadiums will be divided into two parts. Part A, which includes the National Alpine Ski Center and National Sliding Center, will be wholly invested by the government during the construction period. After Beijing 2022, these centers will be renovated and operated in a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

Part B, consisting of the Olympic Village, Media Center and other facilities in Yanqing, will be built and operated in a PPP model.

The 30-year PPP project will be composed of a 5-year construction period and a 25-year operation period. The government also requires that those capitals who bid for this project should have experience in large-scale ski resort operation.

The two centers in northwest Yanqing, will include venues for Bobsleigh, Skeleton, Luge and Alpine Skiing. The Bobsleigh, Skeleton and Luge tracks will be within the National Sliding Centre, which is only one kilometer or a five-minute ride from the Olympic Village. The venue will offer a seating capacity of 2,000 and a standing capacity of 8,000 to the spectators.

The course for the Alpine Skiing events will be located in the National Alpine Ski Centre, which is a six-kilometer or ten-minute ride from the Olympic Village. The venue will offer spectators a seating capacity of 5,000 and a standing capacity of 3,500.
