Beijing is set to start all construction projects of venues and facilities for the 2022 Winter Olympic games, which are expected to be completed by the end of 2019, according to Zhang Jiandong, delegate to the National People's Congress (NPC), deputy mayor of Beijing city and executive vice-chairman of the Beijing 2022.

As Zhang said, the construction of all 26 venues in Beijing, Yanqing and Zhangjiakou clusters will accelerate in 2018. Since they the competition venues began construction last year, they will begin on the renovation work and construction of non-competition venues like the Olympic Village. At the same time, efforts will also be made to accelerate the construction of supporting facilities like water and electricity pipelines, communication and meteorological facilities.

The Beijing Organising Committee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games has also been working to ensure the event organization and services, involving schedule planning, test match strategy, venue operation programming, accommodation, reception, medical support, security, marketing and technology.

Zhang said the Committee has set up the promotion plan for the Beijing 2022 and is preparing for the passing of host baton from the 2018 Pyeongchang Paraolympics.

As an important part of the 2022 Winter Olympics, the Committee will also start to collect mascots designs for the Beijing Olympics and Paralympics.
